Previously, we have talked about adding a Blogger sitemap to Google Search Console. Bing is another powerful search engine after Google that has an ability to drive traffic to your blog. To get the best out of Bing search engine, you need to sign up for Bing Webmaster Tools and submit necessary data related to your site like sitemap.

In this tutorial, I am going to explain step by step, how to submit blogger sitemap to Bing Webmaster Tools,

Step 1: Add Your Site to Bing Webmaster Tools

In order to submit blogger sitemap to bing, you need to add your web property on Bing Webmaster Tools. Just click on the ‘Get Started’ button on the homepage of Bing Webmaster Tools and sign in using your Microsoft or Google account.

After signing in, you will have two options to add your site.

Add site to Bing Webmaster Tools

Option 1: If you have added your site previously to Google Search Console, you can import all the details including sitemap. The import process completes almost instantly and you do not need to verify your domain property either.

Option 2: On the other hand, you can choose to add your site manually by providing the URL of the site. However, with this option, you have to verify your site and also submit your sitemap manually.

Step 2: Verify Your Site

After adding your site, you need to verify your site identity in order to submit your blogger sitemap to Bing.

There are three options available to verify a website on Bing Webmaster Tools. However, uploading the XML file and adding a CNAME is not applicable for blogger blogs. You have to choose the ‘HTML Meta Tag’ option for this purpose.

Verify Site Bing

Follow these steps to perform the verify process,

  • Copy the <meta> tag provided for verification
  • Login to your Blogger Blog
  • Open the ‘Theme’ tab loacted on the left hand side
  • Click on the down arrow mark of ‘Customize’ tab and select ‘Edit HTML’
  • Paste the <meta> tag in the <head> section befor the first <body> section
  • Save the template
  • Return to the bing verification dashboard and click on ‘Verify’ button.

Step 3: Submit Blogger Sitemap to Bing Webmaster Tools

Before proceeding to submit blogger sitemap to bing webmaster tools, you need to understand the URL structure of your Blogger Sitemap. Your sitemap can be found in two structures as follows,

http://YourBlogName.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?orderby=UPDATED

and

http://YourBlogName.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500

You need to replace ‘YourBlogName.blogspot.com’ with your own blog address. It is applicable to a custom domain name too.

Submit Blogger SiteMap to Bing Webmaster Tools

Now. it’s time to submit your blogger sitemap to bing by following these steps,

  • Head on the the ‘Sitemap’ section located on the left hand side of Bing Webmaster Tools
  • Click on the ‘Submit Sitemap’ button
  • Enter your Sitemap address and click on ‘Submit’ button
  • You are done.
